The land of Aryans: Dhahanu is situated to the south west of Leh, around 163 km, passing through the beautiful villages of Khaltse, Domkhar, Skurbuchan and Achinathang. There are many small villages but only two villages of Dha and Hanu are open for tourist. Being on lower altitude Dhahanu is warmer than Leh.
Attraction: The main attraction of this tour is coming across the Drokpa Community considered to be the last race of Aryans confined to the valley. Their feature is pure Indo Aryan and they have preserved their racial purity down the centuries. Lamayuru Monastery: It is one of the oldest and largest monasteries in Ladakh, located approximately 125 km from Leh on the way to Dhahanu Leh- Srinagar Highway. The monastery is surrounded by picturesque landscape resembling that to moon land. The monastery belongs to Drigung sect of Tibetan Buddhism and is a permanent residence to 150 monks. The Monastic festival of Lamayuru Monastery known as “Yuru Kabgyat” is held every year in the month of June.
Markha:
Markha valley is famous for Trekking, Home Stay tour and Expedition for Kangyaze. Kangyaze is one of the famous spot for mountaineers and the adventure seekers. The peak is higher than the surrounding mountain ranges. The peak is called Kang Yatse as by Ladakh people it is 6400 meters high above sea level and very much technical and less preferred, so the climbers go to the shoulder of Kang-Yatse 6200 meters it is easier and favorite amount climbers. Once you are on the top of it shoulder you would be stuck with wonder as you see the mountain ranges and the beautiful green valley Nimaling lying beneath.
