Ladakh Monastery Tour Thiksay: Thiksay is 19 km. south of Leh the most beautiful among all Ladakh monasteries belongs to the Gelukspa order. The Gonpa was first built at Stakmo by Sherab Zangpo. Later the nephew of Sherab Zangpo, Paldan Sherab, founded the Thiksay Gonpa on a hilltop to the north of Indus River. The Thiksay festival (Thiksay Gustor) is held in the month of October- November. Dukhang Karmo is a huge long assembly hall, which consists of the image of Shakyamuni Buddha and Maitriya Buddha. The Thiksay monastery is spectacularly sited and it is one of the largest and architecturally most impressive. Ladakh Monastery Tour Chemdhey: Chemdhey is 45 km from Leh, situated in a picturesque valley leading to Changia; this gompa was constructed as a funeral act of merit on Singge Namgyal's death in 1645.
